The fraternal ties of the Serbian and Russian people have been unbreakable for centuries, and this is proven by the very fact that Russia entered the First World War because of Serbia and in the end, sacrificing itself, lost the imperial family and the empire!
When in 1914 Vienna sent an ultimatum to the Kingdom of Serbia, and when it was clear that war would break out, Emperor Nicholas sided with little Serbia, even though Russia was not sufficiently prepared for war. That is why Bishop Nikolay will compare his sacrifice to that of Emperor Lazar: Nikolay sacrificed himself and his family to help his Serbian brothers. At the beginning of August 1915, after the German attack on Russia, an imperial decree was read, in which, among other things, it was stated: "Stick to its historical traditions and equal in faith and blood with the Slavic peoples, Russia was never indifferent to their fate. solidarity, the feelings of the Russian people towards the Slavs were awakened in the last days, when Austria-Hungary made demands on Serbia that cannot be accepted by any independent state".
